About Patsy
Hi! I'm Patsy Howard and I'm so glad you want to know more about T-Shirt Quilts. I live in Snellville, GA and have lived in the Atlanta, GA area all of my life. I have a bachelors degree in Journalism from Georgia State University. I also have a degree in Accounting from Gwinnett Technical College.
I really enjoy making T-shirt quilts because I get to meet a lot of interesting people. I take a great deal of pride in my workmanship. I realize these T-shirts represent very important personal memories for my customers. I don't dare mess them up.
These quilts are all individually hand made for my customers. I can use previously cut shirts, tank tops, sweat shirts, child sizes, cotton and polyester, scarves, ties and almost any other thing you may have. I can repair holes in shirts and rebuild torn shirts to a certain extent. You have complete control over the fabric used for the sashing and backing. If the quilt is a gift I will commemorate the occasion, name the gift giver and the recipient on the quilt label.
I have been making quilts for my customers since 1997. My first quilt was for my husband who collects t-shirts like a magnet. Shortly after that my daughter was born and I quickly tired of the day care/full time job juggle. I knew there had to be a better way to do my share for the family budget and keep her with me. I had the sewing background I needed and saw that T-shirt quilts would be a great way to work at home. I have since quit my job to work full time on quilts, and give 100% attention to my little girl.
Update
I actually wrote that paragraph some time ago. Since then my daughter has gotten older and become more independent. I've gotten a second degree and gone back to work part time. I still use the quilts to keep my workload light and I am able to be with her in the mornings and afternoons.
